UA NYC Half Marathon Team GallopNYC Runners Raise More Than $16,000 For GallopNYC Therapeutic Horsemanship Programs

Training for and completing a half marathon is something to be proud of; it is an accomplishment that takes dedication, perseverance and mental resilience.

Preparing for such a race as the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon all while raising funds for the life-changing programs GallopNYC provides to New Yorkers with disabilities is tremendous.

Four runners and friends of GallopNYC trained hard to run their best race. Their 13.1-mile journey began in Brooklyn, goes over the Manhattan Bridge, and zips through Times Square (one of only two times it is closed each year!) and finished in Central Park.

Charlotte Kwon said, “Horses have had such a positive impact on my own life and I’m excited to support an organization that empowers individuals with disabilities through therapeutic horsemanship.”

Second-year Team GallopNYC runner Natalie Heim said, “The chance to do what I love, in the city I love, for an organization that I truly believe in, is such an honor.”

Kyle Cummings, who has seen the benefits of GallopyNYC’s programs for his 4-year-old daughter Harper, said that while she cannot walk, she certainly can ride! “The equine therapy she receives from GallopNYC right here in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, has been the highlight of our family’s week for many years now,” Cummings said.

Sofia Kwon, who holds GallopNYC dear to her heart, was honored to raise money in support of our programs while training for the half marathon.

We are so proud of the Team GallopNYC runners in the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon! Not only did they work hard in their training, but their fundraising efforts garnered more than $16,000 in support for our life-changing therapeutic horsemanship programs.
